i bought the perhead from the LFS and they told me that it would be all i needed. id have to look up what it is :(. so i go to another LFS and they told me that that pwrhead is rated for a 6' tank not a 4' tank. i have a 55g tank. i also have a maxi 600 in another corner i guess the the heck of it. i just built a sump and from what ive read here it should be x3 to x5 return pump. well the other LFS that i believe in told me that it should be at least x10 the tank size. so i have all kinds of flow. i have the return and the over pwrhead facing each other to make turbulance. any1 have some ideas what i could do?

Not sure what your specific problem is? What is the name of the new powerhead? What is its flow rate? What kind of corals do you plan to keep? Do you instead to use sea swirls or some other mechanisms to create random flow?
These are the kinds of questions that the LFS should be helping you with. You need to have long term planning for your system. Personally I prefer 5-10 flow rate in my return, so that the overflow and sump doesn't have to be too big and more importantly so that the sump doesn't have to many micro bubbles. I like using wave making devices like sea swirls or tunze or Vortech pumps. The sea swirl may be a more economical route if you need to.
When you let us know what you want to keep we can better advise you on how to set up.

well i still get micro bubbles for some strange reason with the sump i built. it does have a bubble trap. i have a dragon gobie that loves spreading sand all over the place so with all this flow the water just looks like crap. i plan on having all kinds of corals. atm i have zoas, chailces, favias and a few others that are at the bottom to mid rage of the tank. id like to get the hard corals for the top of the tank.

Flow for a Reef starts at 20x water volume and goes up form there. On your return line from the sump, do you have a bunch of bends in the pvc? Do you see any bubbles in the section where your return pump is? If you have sand all over the place, do you have your powerheads pointed more towards the surface and not towards the middle or towards the sand bed?

my return is made of vynle then pvc so not to many bends. i am getting bubble from around my fuge for some reason. i did make sure it was leak proof. i dont have any pwrheads aiming to the sandbed thought that it would blow the sand around.

What kind of powerhead? If you don't know, can you take a picture?
