Came home from work yesterday afternoon to find my female scooter blenny was being consumed by my clean-up crew :( I have no clue what happened! She was doing fine on Wednesday and seemed totally healthy so I am attributing it to old age (was close to 3 years in my tank's). All water params are great too! Purchased both male and female at the same time and he is still kicking but nervous now he is going to bite it soon too! Anyone know the average lifespan of these fish in captivity?

Sorry to hear that. My lawnmower didn't last long at all after he ate all the hair algae in my tank. My other fish, damsels and maroon, have been in my tanks for almost 5 years now. Captive fish can live many years if housed in the proper sized tanks and the water quality is kept up. He could have been spooked by something or stressed by another fish. A bristle worm could have stung him and stressed him, anything is possible. I would check for any unwanted guests in your tank at night. Get a flashlight and use a red filter (marine animals don't react to red light) and see if you see anything out of the ordinary.
