The strangest thing happened today. I got home to feed my fish to find my little mimic tang laying on the bottom of the tank under a rock. I absolutely have no clue what happened and there really isn't any sign of anything else in the tank being under stress. Here are my parms:
    Ammonia - 0
    Nitrite - 0
    Nitrate -10
    Ca 440
    Alk 8
    PH 8.4
I do have quite the diatom bloom going on but I have never heard of that killing a fish. Corals look great and have great PE today and other fish are active. The mimic was feeding pretty well yesterday and was eating caulupera sp? out of my hand. When I fed, my hawk and damsel ate just fine. The one thing I could think of that clued me in to a possible issue was the fish rubbing on the sand a couple of days ago. I only saw it a few time but nothing more. I have seen nothing physically wrong with the fish. Anyone have any ideas? The only thing I could think is possible cyanide

    Sorry to hear that :(

I really don't know what could have happened, but here's a bump.

It might be something you just can't control. Animals, including humans, die without cause all the time.

I have had him about 3 weeks or so. I just went and tested for stray current but wouldn't you know it? Nothing.

I would say preexisting condition if you only had him 3 weeks. Might never know for sure

yeah, I have no clue. He was a diatom killing machine. I'm going to have to order another one. I have tested everything I can think of and most issues that would kill a fish would somehow affect coral.. ph, temp swings, salinity, etc. I'm getting ready to run some carbon just in the case there are chemicals in there but I don't believe there are.

Sorry to hear about that Daniel.....it is true that sometimes fish will just die for an unknown reason......
