Well after searching around literally everywhere I cannot get a straight answer from anyone. Every forum and online articles all talk in a big circle.

What is the final, straight forward answer on drinking RO/DI water?

I have read everything from sudden death and dissolving teeth to harmless and water plants use the same method.

Screw it I'm filling my 5 gallon water jugs because I'm tired of having to drive across town to fill them up and haul all 6 back home just for drinking water.

I have an RO/DI unit now that was for my fish tanks but thought it would be a good idea to use it for drinking water.

You can drink RO water, you should not drink RO/DI water.

You could probably "tee" it off so you have RO for drinking and RODI for your tank.

There is nothing wrong with drinking RO/DI only water. It doesn't have a lot of minerals in it, but it isn't going to harm you. but what do I know, I drink unfiltered ground water on a semi-regular basis.

Well rodi water has next to no minerals in it. The reason why it's considered bad is because you pee and sweat those minerals our body pushes out. if the water your taking in doesn't refil these minerals then you will get weaker and sick. It's not bad for you itbjust doesn't replenish the minerals we need.

It's H2O... drink all you want. It will taste like crap, but knock your self out.

It's a big waste of DI cartridges though. Since you do not need pure water... you will burn through them much faster. RO water is all you need. Find a way to tee off and keep the pure stuff for the tank.
