They pretty much all can portable with the use of a hose or faucet addapter, though some units are quite large.AWI offers a couple of smaller ones.

You are going to get a million opinions on this...however, 75 GPD seems to be the sweet spot. Just make sure all of your filters especially the Di chamber are verticle. Not laying on it's side. Everyone will recommend the one they have, cause they like it. I have found that they are only as good as the filters inside them, and the quality of the cannisters. A TDS meter included is a nice feature!!

The Spectrapure ProPlus at $149 is a great unit.
SpectraPure Customer Appreciation SALE! 20% - 50% off

Jason, I am curious why you made that statement too? Do you know something I don't know? Sure I use Spectrapure products but its after using 3 other vendors, one of which is mentioned in this thread and being very dissatisfied with their performance.
I will say for the record, be very very careful with the Vertex units, they use 120v AC power on their solenoids and are not wired very safe. Water and power scare me when they are that close together. The one unit I observed was pretty shoddy, lets hope they have improved.

Robman, you are right on, they are only as good as the filters they contain for the most part. Thats why companies like Spectrapure have been in busines 25 years and use only high quality components they test in their own facilities. If it does not pass their standards they won't sell it.

just in case Jason does not come on, I would like to clarify what Jason meant

Veebdubshafer - made a comment "AZdesert rat will be on to say spectrapure"
Veebdubshafer - has a sense of humour I can relate to so I know he was just joking

Jason responded " why wouldnt he"

Jasons meaning was simply , that Spectrapure make quality units and as such why shouldn't AZ desert rat come on and say so!

Jason may not see this post or your post, PM him if your not satisfied with my interpretation of his meaning

bet on me AZ desertrat - I am 100% certain thats what he meant.

I'm here Sorry. I've been taking in all the Olympic festivities

Personally I haven't had a single issue with my Vertex. I know about 20 others that love theirs as well. I do, how ever, understand Your concerns about water and power. But in order to have the booster pump on any RO/DI unit you would have to run power to the pump. I've owned Kent and an Aquasafe RO/DI units in the past and the Vertex is by far the most efficient of the 3. I had ever intent to purchase a unit from a 3reef vendor until I walked into my LFS on Boxing day a was faced with a sale I could not pass up. Anyway, I'm very Happy with all my Vertex products (I also have their new Mocean 3500 Wavemaker and was using their ZeoReactor)

Yes but most booster pumps as well as solenoids and processors run off DC powered trhough a remote transformer. There is no way Vertex could ever hope to obtain UL approval with 120v AC devices mounted on a RO bracket, scared me to death! Thats a really poor design I would hope they correct before someone gets hurt of worse. Really cobbled up.

In Canada a none UL or CSA approved product can not be sold. So I would imagine that it meets CSA approval as I purchased my unit form a LFS.

I'm going to inquire about this as I see no CSA or UL sticker on my unit
