For normal feedings, offer as much as they can eat in 3 minutes. I leave a piece of blue plexiglass rod in my tank with either sea veggies or nori (bought at the supermarket in either ethnic section, or by the sushi if they sell it) banded to it with a couple drops of selcon and garlic rubbed on it for grazing whenever the lights are on in my tank.

At my LFS i dont think they have veggie clips, do you know any other known store that might offer it?[/QUOTE]

If the sell saltwater stuff the proabally have it. its just a plastic clip that you can use red or green algae on it. most algaes come with a clip. If not ask them and you should be able to order one. I have had luck with reef nutrition on these.

If you continue to feed 1.5 cubes a day, you will encounter nitrate problems. That is a lot of food. I would feed him regularly. I feed about a 1/3 of a cube every other day, it's more food than you think. Plus, he should be grazing around the tank.

I would feed your tang mysis shrimp instead of brine because brine is like chocolate mysis is like a chocolate covered straberry do u get what I'm saying. same taste more healthy addition to sea weed. Good luck with your tang

I always see people talk about the garlic! I know not to use garlic salt but what kind of garlic are people talking about? Fresh garlic, jarred garlic, or garlic powder watered down? I have a sailfin tang right now that wont eat and I tried some food that had a garlic additive but it didnt want that either!

Garlic = kent marine garlic extreme from an LFS or online retailer. You can get the exact same stuff only less concentrated from chopped garlic in water bought at the grocery store for 1/10 the cost. Just make sure it only has 3 ingredients: garlic, water, and citric acid (as a preservative).

I feed nori all day throughout the day, just drop them a pinch in. I have a question about nori though. I buy the stuff for sushi. It is pure dried nori according to the package, no additives. Is this ok?

(I also feed all day because I have 3 herbivores, two pretty good size ones)
I have a roughly 7 or so inch sailfin
    a 3.5" yellow
    and a 5" foxface

Yes, it is ok as long as there are no additives. Also, when you say a "pinch" how much is that?

I usually put a strip about 2x2 folded a time or 2 in a clip for one yellow tang. I put the nori in every other day (sometimes every day) and feed on the off day and it is usually gone overnight. Some people will also rubberband the nori to a rock and drop it in the tank.

It is HUGE sheets.. so i just pinch off about (3) 1/2" squares (its three sheets.. so I just grab and rip a piece) I would guess. So about the same as what you feed size wise. I do it a couple times daily but I also have quite a few more herbivores.

Yes, you do! LOL! Funny though, all of my other fish will munch on the nori at one time or another throughout the day. I think they just like the variety and I figured it can't hurt them.
