i have 100 pounds or so of live sand in my exsisting 55 gallon tank. the sand bed is like 2 years old when i bought it off of someone. when i brought it home it was still in water with 40% or 45% or so of water still in the tank and i stirred it up and sucked all the nasty stuff off of it. and since then i think i got it in janurary or feburary, (SP?) the sand has been stirred up many times with powerheads and water changes moving the sand around, anyways. i really dont want to and cant buy all that new live sand. could i just move it over w.o. any problems???

I'd say absolutely yes. The major potential issue when moving sand from tank to tank is the uncertainty regarding the pollutants in said sand. As I see it, the perfect way to "clean" sand would be to stir it up, let the detritus settle, and vacuum it off.

This is what you say you've done. It would seem that your sand is perfect for transplanting into another tank.

Why consider buying live sand when you have the best live sand you could ever obtain? This live sand has been in your possession for years. That means you know exactly what's in it; and more importantly, what's not.

    Do it!!

Let us know how it goes.
