LFS sold me three pieces to get my tank cycling. The rock was red or burnt red looking and now that color is fading...Did they sell me rock with a red algae problem and now my new uncycled tank is killing the algae or did they sell me good rock and my new tank is killing the goodness of the rock

if it was red coralline algae on the rock and was exposed to air bringing it home it will turn white but will color back up again.

That rock looks OK not supremo but OK, i wouldn't worry to much if your still going through your cycle I'm sure it will turn a few different colors before its all done. soon enough you will have more Coraline then you want to scrape off. IMO
