well I will have 1st go at answering his question

aggresive fish - do you mean eels, lionfish, etc as some aggresive fish are OK with corals but others like certain Trigger fish, will make a mess of your tank pretty quickly

    basics you need

    tank, sand, rock, salt mix,
heater, pumps (for flow), protien skimmer ( a must if you are going to have corals and messy feeders) and lighting

a lot of the above varies in accordance with what you want to keep exactly

you have options on ways of setting it up

so read, read and read, and then ask questions

    welcome to 3 reef

I would say visit a LFS and talk to them also. Most are reputable and will give advice on what you need based on what you want to keep. They have tanks set up that they will let you look at to help get ideas on what you want and how to take care of it. IMPO dont go to the chain pet stores and ask for to much advice due to lack of knowledge in the saltwater hobby on the employees part. Some people that work there are pretty good and will offer good advice but others arent so good. pick up some books and read them, surf the forums on here and you can gain a tremendous amount of knowledge. Go SLOW and dont get in a hurry. As far as keeping aggressive fish like lions and eels others will have to help on that one. I just have a couple of tangs that killed my CBB.
