Hello all i have just started my 50 Gallon Tank and plan to use this as a way to keep track of what I'm doing as well as to get advice from the more "reef savy" people on the forum.

I am from the caribbean and as a result i have harvested my own live rock which is now cycling in my tank.

My setup is a 50 Gallon Glass Tank (unconventional 18"x18"x36"), An aquaclear 110, An Aqua-C remora HOB skimmer, 2 Actinic and 2 Flourescent 36w Flourescent, 2 Hydor Koralia #2

I will post some pics of the collecting as well as the cycling of the tank as i go along. Please feel free to give me any advice...as i suspect i will need it

Well i have to find some reefers over here to get frags. On the rocks that i harvested i tried not to pic up too many living organisms but i think i got some zoa's and a mystery animal (hes in the middle of the pic below). I am not sure what he is but i see i have 4 more throughout the tank. I also got a hitch hiker brap i i keep hering clicking noises which makes me think i got some mantis shrimp (which is not good for my intended clowns, or so i have been told)

Looking nice! If you hear the clicking, then its probably a Mantis. I wouldn't put anything too expensive in there till you find him. Where did you get the rock?

If it's a steady stream of softer clicks, multiple ones in a row, then it's probably a mantis. If it's an infrequent *bang* of a click, it's probably a pistol. When most people hear "clicking" that generally means mantis, though.

That rock is going to be really interesting to look at at night! :D
