OK, lil' bro sets up a 110gal, 520w worth of PC's, about 150lbs uncured LR, 100lbs LS, coralife 125 skimmer, 2 emporor 400 biowheels, 1 penguin 400 biowheel (he plans on upgrading to sump/fuge). now all the filration is from an establish tank, which was his downfall, cause he thought he wasn't gonna have to cycle. he has it set up for about 2 weeks, he's chompin' at the bit, he wants fish. i tell him ur gonna spike so just pick up a couple damsels and let it be. so he does. another week goes by he's not satisfied wants more, again i tell him "don't your gonna spike and risk losing everything", he says "ok", but goes and buys a green carpet anemone(about 8") and a saddle clown. i tell him "shouldn't have done that", this was about 2 weeks ago water params are right on at this point. I go to his house about 5 days ago this idiot went out and bought a frogspawn, montipora, bubble tip anemone, green mushrooms, striped grouper, and like 2 other fish i forget what they were. water still good, until today! he calls me this morning asking me to rescue everything from him tank which i can't do e-thing cause of compatibility issues, cause his nitrites are off the charts and his nitrates at 80ppm. and on top of that his AC went out last night so he has fans blowing, and it's been inthe 90's all week. so now i have to save what i can and call a few buddies w/ tanks to see if they can help save some of is livestock. whatta J/A.

Some people just aren't cut out for this hobby. I can say that because at times I question my ability to do the right things...

Oh dam* lol. Wish i had the money to do that right off the get go. Sounds like its an all to common thing anymore. People want to rush things and thats the first cardinal rule "do not rush into it". But like you said Nunch if he would have just listened then all would have been fine. Lesson learned hopefully. Karma to you for trying to save it.

he might never have had a cycle if he had waited between each coral.my 55 gallon never cycled when i switched over from a 29 gallon.i added the new lr and corals and the fish were added as babies,i added everything very slowly.my neighber upgraded from a 46 gallon to a 90 this way.he added very slow and never had a cycle cause it was all from an established tank.groupers and anemonies and coral don't belong together in a reef tank.i would'nt no were to begin with your bro. sounds just like mine.if he's going to be like that then he should get rid of the coral and have a fish only,or fish and anemonee tank.for now i suppose he could do alot of small water changes very often to keep the cycle small.i feel your frustration

He's got enough room for anemone and some corals, but i don't know what he was thinking w/ the grouper. what really gets me is that tank shoulda been mine. it was my mom's bf's who was moving, so he gave it away. woulda been mine but i just set up my 75gal few months proir. very nice tank 110gal, glass, wide, rounded front corners so it's only 2 pieces of glass, awesome stand, can fit another 110 in the cabinet and looks brand new no scratches or damage anywhere. FOR FREE! I'll help him get it back on track!
