    did you have to 'treat' that wood? i built a canopy like that for my cichlid tank and the woods nasty now. in fact ive pulled the wood off and soaked it in bleach before to kill all the black crap on it. so i didnt bother with a canopy on my 75gal salt tank because i figured it'd be 10x worse with salt

    The wood is high grade hard oakwood. With the slats, air can get in and keep it cooler and saving the wood from warping. The back end of the canopy is open and I keep the half lid open to keep the heat down. I live in florida so I worry about the heat too even though I keep my house between 72 and 74 degrees. My water is usually at 78 degrees.
