I normally run my fan with my Mh 150 watts lights. My lights came on today at 9:30 am but I forgot to turn my fan on fromlast night when I introduced a new ricordea yuma. My normal temp is 78 and it got upto 81 at 2:00 pm. I put the fan back on now. Anything to worry about?

That is not a terrible jump. My tank hits 82 almost every day. It was probably a gradual increase in temp as well. If it were a huge jump with in a short period of time that would be different story. Get a timer for you fan so it comes on with you MH every day at the same time!

81°F is where my tanks run at coolest part of the day in winter. My normal upper range in summer would be 84° to 86° with spikes up to 88° on real hot days.

Why don't you feed the fans off the same timer you have the M/H's on ? lights and fan all come on at the same time .. then you would not have that problem . 81 is not any really problem to worry about But if you just keep softs then none at all SPS won't tolerate these temps well at all I keep mine between 77.1 and 77.9 24/7 But again it depends on the type of corals you are dealing with .

Agreed, if your timer only has 1 outlet then get a pigtail 3' adapter, I have 1 on each of my timers then the fan is only running when my MH are. Got it at Lowe's or Menards for under 10 bucks.
