I am at the finishing stages of my sump build and am ready for my pump. The one i had picked out is a Lifegard Aquatics Quiet One 2200 Water Pump. It has the perfect flow rate for what i need. My question is has anyone used one before? I noticed the input and output are both 1''...alot bigger than comparable pumps for that size which are about 1/2''. The only thing making me second guess my choice is that output size is 1'' and i was planing for a 1/2'' returns. could i just fit a "Y" pipe on the output and size it down to 2 -1/2'' returns without screwing with the flow rate? or should i just get something else? any suggestions? i'm hoping to put my order through today online ;)

Yes, that will work. I have had good experiences with these pumps. On the other hand, AzDesertRat has had bad experiences with these pumps. You just never know do you?

Must be hit and miss, I had two literally burn up, one was a 2200 and the other a 4000, and cause problems with the tank. I much prefer Ocean Runner or Eheim, both much better more reliable pumps.

Mine would only start 50% of the time and ran very warm. You get what you pay for.

I have never had problems with them. I know many guys that run them as well in our local club and have no issues.

I run my QO3000 externally, and it runs under 100 degrees, which is less than a similar mag 9.5 runs. They definitely use a lot less electricity than similar sized mag drive pumps.

I have a Ouiet One 2200 as my sump return pump.... no problems with it whatsoever. I've heard of people saying they're noisy but mine is very quiet. For a cheap pump, it works pretty good
