LFS strikes again.

So I sold my metal halide setup today to a local reefer. He is telling me all about the local fish stores advice on his new tank. Horrible horrible advice.
They tell him after water changes just add tap water and dump salt into the sump.
Hydrometer is just as good as refractometer.
A Aquaclear 110 is all you need for filtration on a 85g.
The list goes on and on. It's pretty upsetting to me that a store would tell him all this. Now I don't think I'm a genius when it comes to tanks but I spent a good hour with this guy trying to explain things to him.
I told him about 3reef so hopefully he will join.
Its crazy to me how these stores stay open with all the god awful advice they give out.
Ok, my rant is over.

 

They stay open because they give this bad advice, then people realize their mistakes and go back to them to buy the right equipment. It's all about the mighty dollar.

Those kind are hard to come by... out of the half-dozen within 30 miles of my home, only one even bothers to ask about tank size and age before selling you livestock.

 

Dude I love the guy living near me he's great he quarantines the fish for like two weeks for you before he will sell them, while I've known others the day they get them in their for sale...
