LED vs T5

    I've had both and I like both. I like LEDs more right now for a few reasons:

    1) Power consumption is lower

    2) Overall cost is significantly lower when you include the cost of replacing bulbs. Consider that a six-bulb fixture will cost you, on average, about $240/yr if you replace every 9 months. It doesn't take long to make up the cost of the T5 fixture vs. LEDs. For a 90 it would be about 2 years, not counting power savings.

    3) Dimmable - If you get dimmable LEDs like AIs you have an infinite number of lighting variations and some controllers will mimic lunar cycles, year-long sunrise/sunsets, clouds and lightning.

    4) They focus light more than other bulbs, meaning you can put the lights higher without the wash becoming distracting to people in the room - not a factor for many people, but it was a key feature for my set up.
