it would light your garage fine, or another room like that. If your asking how it would do on a reef aquarium. Probably terrible. Look at type of LED's, they advertise 30 3w and 25 3w but the light is only 120w? 30x3 = 90w and 25x3=75w. Thats 165w by my count so id be skeptical of it right from there, Also they are listed as high power 3w but no make of them which means theyre probably no name emitters, which provides the question how powerful and efficinet are they.

Lighting isnt cheap, especially if your looking to grow high light demanding sps and clams and such, If your looking for your cheapest LED options, Look at a kit from RapidLED or ReefLedLights.com, Check out boostled or aqua illuminations sol for your aboslute proven best lights which are still affordable.

With LED lighting though you do not go by the wattage, you would look more at the PAR. They dont list any kind of PAR on the link at all.

They also don't know how to spell "aquarium" either :). IMO proper reef lighting can't be found on eBay. I know eBay is great and all, trust me I just got in an order from Reef-A-holic on eBay, but when it comes to something as vital as proper lighting, I would only go with a trusted name brand.

Don't know anything about the light, but that just means that they are under driving them. Many reputable companies under-drive their LEDs. I would be skeptical of this one though as it is not a known brand and obviously they are cutting some costs somewhere.

I think you've been confused a bit. PAR is certainly the key and it is important to choose an LED that provides sufficient PAR. However, not many manufactures advertise PAR and just knowing the PAR isn't enough, you need a PAR contour plot. In otherwords not just the PAR under it, but to the sides as well. Some manufactures do provide this. In other cases you can get a rough estimate from the optics and the wattage, if you are familiar with the LEDs used.

In other words, while you can't really compare LEDs to Metal halides based on wattage, you can compare fixtures that use similar LEDs, with the same optics, based on wattage actually. As this is a CREE LED fixture, it can mostly be compared to other CREE LED fixtures based on wattage. The issue I have with this fixture though is that most of the cheap ebay stuff is exactly that, it is cheap ebay stuff....
