So I have decided after alot of thread reading last night that I was going to use LED's on my 20 gallon. I would want the LED's to be reef capable. My setup is going to be the normal 24"x12"x16" 20 gal. with about 40lbs. of sand(alot.... I had some left over). So my question is which ones to use and i want to have about a $175 budget. Some that I have been looking at but can't decide how many I should get.

PAR30 LED Reef Lamps by BoostLED
------ how many would I need for my 20?

Dimmable PAR38 W+B LED Aquarium Reef Corals Grow Light | eBay
------- saw these from another thread. they looked pretty good. It has 12 LED's vs. 5(I think) from BoostLED so would those have a higher wattage. My only problem with these is that they have 30 degree lenses on them.

------- Or I was thinking of a DIY. Can't remember the website but it was a DIY no soldering kit. How many LED's on DIY would you think would be enough for my setup?

    Thanks! ;D

What kind of light are you using? If he is going with LED's then I really don't think he would need 120 watts. That would a lot of LEDs above his tank.

    I think 2 par30 with 60* optics (or 3 40* optics if it is a 20g L) 3b/2w diodes would be perfect over a 20 gallon reef.

BoostLED probably makes the best par30 LED bulb.

I would go with two 7 diode PAR 38's. I have two of these over a 30 breeder. Results for PAR Bulbs
Two would work on your tank. PAR 30's would also work, but not so good for higher light SPS. Depends what you want in the tank. The color from these puts my six bulb TEK to shame.

Stay away from low watt LED diodes.
