LED Light question

    don't forget that leds are directional so you will not get an ambient affect like with pc's,t-5s,and halide. unless you put a lens over the led. picture below illustrates how the lens works, it is 5 cree leds w/ 60 degree optic lenses. the leds you have selected will really only light the area directly under them so 2 or even 3 wouldn't be terrible. but even w/ one you will get the shimmer you are after just put it in the front.

    so i guess just getting MH will be cheaper, purchase wise?
    My local has brand new MH for $150

    well yes, the halide alone at 150 is cheaper than getting leds. But you have a 29 gallon tank and 150w of halide is gonna cook it. so you will most likely need a chiller of some sorts, plus the cost of replacement bulbs and cost of running the light as well. i tried the cheap way the first go around and its not worth the head aches just wait and do it right the first time.

    This is not entirely true. The new ones are not focused or directional but rather they disperse well, like the new Ecoxotics.
