so I used to have a cyano issue and one thing I did to combat this was to keep my lights on for a shorter time...

my question is if I leave my actinics on for 8 ish hrs/day will that have the same adverse effects on my tank as leaving my 10,000K lights on that long?

Are you still trying to combat cyano or is it all gone now? Many people will run their actinics for an hour before they turn their white lights on and an hour after they turn the white lights off, so that way it is not suddenly bright like high noon from pitch black, and vice versa. It is more natural.

If you're combating cyano still, I would leave actinics on for 7 or 8 hours and the 10K's for 5-6 hours. (actinics on for an hour, then whites on for 5-6 hours while actinics are on, then whites off, then actinics off an hour later)
