I have a friend with a 90 gallon with stand that he will hand over, in which would be an awesome upgrade from my 55 gallon. Issue is, 2 seams started leaking. Easy fix with silicone or should I just not get into it. The last thing I need is a tank with issues of perm leaking or busting....

Not as easy as you think. To redo a seam, you much deconstruct the panes and clean, finish and reseal them.

cleaning its the easy part, its putting it back together thats a pain. you have to pretty well do all the pains at the same time to seal it properly

It can be done, with a little research you should be comfortable. Just not as easy as smearing silicone over the leaks ;).
