A few weeks ago I got 7 black turbo snails for my tank after a Cyano outbreak. Well they are doing fine, but they stay on the glass, and wont touch the live rock, even after cleaning the glass. Most of the time they are huddled together on the glass.

Now I do have a Picasso trigger in the tank (I knew this was a risk from the get go) and the first day or two he would nip at their shells but he gave up and doesnt mess with them anymore. Now i'm wondering if they just like whats growing on the glass better, or are they trying to hide from him. any thoughts ?

Sounds exactly like what my Nerites do...a whole bunch of nothing. Post a picture of your snails.

Clean your glass more often, and there won't be anything on the glass for them to eat. They'll move elsewhere.

    Yeah, those are Nerite's...not Turbo's.

Those are nerites, not turbos. They tend to huddle together during the day, and move around and eat at night. They'll go on the rock if there's nothing left on the glass, as evolved said.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll have to start cleaning my glass more often.

What is your current magnesium level? Magnesium is a muscle relaxant for many inverts such as snails. Turbos especially, but I think nerites as well IIRC.

I've never tested for magnesum. Is it worth picking up a test or is this normal behavior for Nerites ?
