Mine eats shrimp all day long. Don't get me wrong he eats algae too like a mad man. I love watching him head bang as he's going to town... Now watching him steal food from my corals. Sheesh!

What size tank is it in, and how old?

But either way, it can take fish up to a week or more before they are acclimated and will eat.

Sounds like a plan. I added one to my 55 too soon and it starved after a couple months :( Hopefully yours will eat some prepared foods, as mine would not touch it.

    hey marshall! ;D

is there anything that causes them not to eat? i've heard that fish like dragonettes can be finicky with eating, i didnt know other fish do the same as well.

Its not that they choose not to eat, they just don't recognize what we are presenting as food. In the LMB case, it is hit or miss whether they will accept any prepared foods (including nori or dried algae sheets). Mine was a miss. It ate green hair algae like a champ, but once it was gone, it had very little to eat.

Similar situation with dragonets. They instinctively hunt for pods all day long. This is their diet. Some have had success weening them on prepared foods, others have had them eat prepared foods, but still slowly starve. A big reason could be they still need the majority of their diet needs to be pods.

This is more my opinion than fact. Others with more experience are welcome to chime in!

I've actually just gotten a lawnmower blenny and he was shy for a couple of days or so. After that, he started exploring and moving around the tank and eating algae off the back wall. He's full of character! Your blenny might just still be getting used to his new environment.... good luck with him. :)
