Don't give up the fight just yet. I felt the same way after battling it for over a month and a half. Then I managed to get rid of it. Unfortunately the cyano is back now but no gha.

My cyano took about 2 months to go away (with a lot of hard work on my part) - and now it's been gone for over 4 months!!! It takes a lot of patience, you can do it!!

thats the problem, i have no idea how old it is. i got the fixture almost a year ago and it was used then. the guy didnt tell me how old it was. could the bulb be the problem for both the cyano and the GHA?

Oh yes!!! When bulbs age they loose there spectrum, I think they thow off more of the red/blueish spectrum that algae thrive off of as they age. But the cyano is not algae, it's a bacteria so I'm not sure about that one.
