Those are pretty cool, I have two clowns in there, and a clown goby my tailspot just got sucked into the over flow so I will probably get another one. I ordered a Cherub pygmy angel that I need to go pick up from my LFS as well. thats all that will be in there.

    it would probably eat those.

usually the fish will survive in the overflow for a while, you just have to fish it out.

you may be able to get a small puffer/toby

I prefer several smaller fish to one bigger one, A 40G is still a fair size tank, I used to keep a mimic tang and another tang in my 35G.

You can't have a large fish with that arrangement of fish and that size of a tank. What you MIGHT be able to do is get one of my personal favorites, a triggerfish. Maybe a Niger or Pink Tail? They can gain some slightly aggressive tendencies and would eventually outgrow the tank. Do you have any inverts? If so, this isn't the fish for you.
