Seriously, though, Brute trashcans are probably the most commonly used in the hobby and have been for a long time... You'd be hard pressed to find an RC TOTM that did not use them for something. Rubbermaid Roughneck products on the other hand have been prone to issues. Of course you can always clean with bleach, rinse out really well, add RO/DI water and test the TDS of the water going in, and after sitting (well covered) for a while. Experience shows, if you do this correctly, the TDS will remain 0.

 

By the way, here is a plastic FAQ. I believe BRUTE containers are HDPE IIRC.
