    Hi Guys,

I am going to need to mix a lot of water soon and have a brand new Brute 32 gallon trash can. It is grey and has a marking of LDPE 4 on the bottom. It has never been used and has been sitting in my basement. If you don't think that it is safe to use, then what do you recommend? Thanks!!!

Depends on how much you need. You can find large containers with lids that you could use on the internet or at a plastics company.

If you are sure the Brute can hasn't been used, that will work. Depending on your needs, you may need to bring the can closer to the tank and some wheels on the can will make doing so much easier.

Thanks for the reply. I know that the can has never been used. Just sitting in the basement. I do have a lid for it as well. I plan on filling it in the basement and toting 5 gallons at a time up to the tank. Thanks!!

    Sounds like a plan.

If you're doing water changes with it, get a python hose and pump it up to the tank so you don't have to carry it. But, that is good exercise too.

I did this, it works well.. Are you planning on keeping salt water in there, or fresh.. be sure to get a powerhead to keep movement..

I am changing sumps and need to have water to refill the new sump. The old sump is 20 gallons, and I am planning on mixing about 25 gallons of water just in case. I normally only mix five gallons for my weekly water changes but need something bigger. I have a couple of powerheads and air pump with an air stone to throw in it. Once I have used it for this purpose, would it be okay to keep RO/DI water in it? If so, do you need the powerhead? Thanks!!!
