Koran Angel

Gf thought it would be a good idea to suprise me with this fish! Dont get me wrong its a beautiful fish! But its now in a reef tank and i would have never put an angel in a reef tank lol! Any suggestions to keep it from nipping? Its only been 24 hours and it hanst touched any thing yet....i feed three times a day

 

Food, feed, and plump. Keep her full is your best bet.

 

Thanks, thats what i was thinking. I guy on reef central that is local to me has a emp angel in his tank and he feeds 4-5 times a day if i remeber correclty and it doesnt touch any corals....im hoping for the same luck bc the fish is beautiful!

 

Coral polyps are not as big a factor as sponges, however, you may not encounter any problems with your Koran Angelfish. Juvenile or adult?

 

You may also try the frozen angel food. It has sponge in the mix. Best of luck.

yikes, I would get any zoas or non euphilia LPS (especially open brains) you really like outta there just in case. I was debating for around 45 mins last week over getting a sweet sub adult emperor angel for my 180 . . . I got the shop to cut off a few brown zoas off a huge colony and within 3 seconds of being in the tank with that guy he was gobbling them down so i passed. I heard the korans are one of the more aggressive angels available, definitely keep an eye on that guy.

maybe you'll get lucky and have a sweet huge, beautiful centerpiece fish that is coral safe, but if it were me I prob wouldn't have taken the chance.

I didnt take the chance....came home from my basketball game and it was in the tank lol didnt have a choice! So far its been 24 hours and he hasnt touched a thing.....watching him closley to see what happens....so far so good we will see thou...

 

wow, thats interesting. I figured you came home to a surprise floating in a bag in your tank (thats how I would picture my wife going about surprising me with something like that). the up side is if that guy does snap and decide to eat up all your coral it wont be a huge loss being as there is only a few frags in there opposed to my situation with loads of old growth corals. it might be tough to add anything new after the koran gets established, but that can be said about a bunch of fish.

well theres alot more in there now this my thread has been updated....i mean i did lose every thing (about 10 grand in coral and fish) about 7 months or so ago....but yea she wanted to "totally" suprise me....and boy did she ever lol
