    Also what about the side effects many reviewers experienced such as the bio-bloom and the drop in pH and oxygen. How did you compensate for those to protect your livestock.

    I did have a bloom as predicted, but it is fading. pH has not been an issue.

    I had what I would call micro bloom for less then a day, I ignored it.

    most people just let it run it's coarse.

    One of the other side effects to the sulfur denitrators is that they react negatively to low nitrate levels. Which is why the manufacturers recommend that they be used as calcium reactors after the nitrates are under control. Are there any side effects like that for these? And what are/were your tank parameters?

    Some people would tell you to start with 1/2 the recommended media.

    I believe the calcium is there so there is no fluctuation with pH. They say the cloudiness and bloom lasts for a couple weeks but thats for the bacteria to build up. Once its built up then it goes away.

    I pretty sure they just sit there doing nothing.

    I used salifert test kits

    phosphate less then .03
    nitrate less then 1.5 ppm.
