I'm going to get a powerhead for my Biocube 29, definitely need the extra flow. I was just curious which one would be better, the Nano or size 1 Koralia powerhead.

Was there one you like more than the other?

The rule of thumb I have always run with is to create a 50x internal flow. So in the absence of anything else, you could sustain two K-2s and a K-nano. But I would suppose there is at least 200GPH that the skimmer and on-board powerhead provides, so you could scale down to two K-2s. It just depends on what you have in there, what the rock structure is like and your plans for either an SPS system or LPS/Softies system. I would run about 50x for LPS and 80x for SPS. Mixing the two is possible, but as a matter of asthetics, I would avoid it. They require two different habitats to flourish optimally.

i would just get a Koralia 2> or get both of the nano and 1. YOu could get both and have different flow areas, which is nice for corals. You could also upgrade your stock pump to a Rio Hf 6. Many options?

honestly its better to have 2 small pumps then one big pump "gives you more options" so i would recommend 2 nanos i run two k-1 in my 26 bowfront and its plenty of flow

I have a K1 in my 16G bowfront and its really weak. I would go with at least two K1s or better yet K2s.

going to add a +1 in support of previous posts with regards water flow

the trick IME is to spread it out as much as possible and not have to much going in 1 direction - so 2 x K1s would be easier for corals to adapt to, than it would be for them to adapt to a single K2
same applies all the way up- 2 smaller ones with a combined flow, which may greater than 1 larger one is better IMO

so the amount of flow is important, but so is the manner that it is delivered
if you try to achieve 20 x tank turnover with a single power head, you would struggle to keep some species happy- it would be to fierce over to great an area
but if you had 2 power heads with a combined 30 x tank turnover, you would find it easier to accomodate the needs of individual corals

I have had a nano and would not recommend it. It creates almost no flow. I had it centered in my 55 pointed at the front and I don't think that it did much other than clutter my tank. I would go with the 1's.
