I am wondering if this product will work well for a 120 G tank. I would get the Koralia Deluxe Wavemaker with 3 adjustable Koralia 4's and possibly 1 adjustable Koralia 3 or 2.

    Any opinions? Any Experience?

I really want a wavemaker to stimulate coral growth in my tank as well as natural ocean motion.

No responses? Everyone must have gone away for the holiday. I just looked at the unit and I would say yes, it looks adequate. 3 #4s should do nicely depending on the placement. What is the extra #3 for (or where will it be in the tank).

I would start with the two Koralia #4's on the left end and right end of tank (one pointed towards the front of the tank and the other the back of the tank) and then the Koralia #3 in the middle pointing towards the surface of the water to create agitation and oxygenation of the water.

The final #4 (which I am undecided on as of yet) would just be for additional flow and to cut down on laminar/dead spots in the tank.

As of yet, I have quite a bit of SPS and do know that they require a high turnover rate of water within the tank to promote healthy growth. I also have some softies (ricordia, zoanthids, mushrooms), some LPS (brain coral, frogspawn) and also have two anemones (a rose bta and a small green bta).

Would all four of the powerheads be overkill in the tank? I believe it would put me at about 37 x turnover.

no 37x is quite alright... i have heard of some sps dominant tanks that are 60x turnover

For the money, have you considered vortechs or tunzes? I know the Koralias are probably slightly cheaper but for a little more money you can get top of the line stuff.

I have thought of those. As tempting as the vortechs are, they are quite out of my price range. And I have also read they create more noise than the Koralias. I have not heard much of the tunzes, but they are quite expensive as well.

Thank you for the alternatives though, they are much appreciated.

Sorry, I'm really not trying to sell Vortechs here but I think sometimes people get sticker shocked by them. I don't think they are really that unreasonable for good quality equipment. Not to take anything away from the Koralias, they are a great product for what they are and for the price point I don't think there is a cheaper solution for what you get. So I'm just trying to offer details on all of the options available.

3 controllable K4's and a 4-way Koralia wavemaker come to about $530 before tax and shipping (at least from what I can tell). These 3 pumps will produce about 4200gph of flow according to their specs.

If you were to buy 2 Vortech MP20's which would produce about 4000gph according to spec it would cost about $600 before tax/shipping, I think.

It's not a huge difference basically. Something more to consider, they aren't completely out of people's price ranges I don't think.
