He has been in a 10g quarantine for 1 week and been eating aggresively. I came home today to find him breathing rapidly and looks like he has popeye in one eye. What should I do??

How are you adding oxygen to the tank?

He has been in quarantine because I quarantine all my fish before I put them in my tank. I have a HOB filter and a maxi jet 1200 powerhead for waterflow and oxygen.

For popeye, I have cured fish by treating their food with melafix. It worked within a few days. As far as breathing heavily, make sure there is proper water agitation. Take a cup, an 8 oz. cup and fill it with the tank water, then pour it back into the tank from about 2 feet up. this should cause some good airation. See if that helps.

Honestly man this is why I don't quarantine fish before adding them. Like I just stated in another thread, most fish can overcome just about any disease with a stable habitat and a good diet. The stress of being in qt will weaken their immune system making them weak and disease prone. This is just my few years of experience.

I totally agree with not quarantining fish. If the environment is good then the fish should be ok.
