Anyone ever try this? I googled it and didn't come up with much.
There is a 24x10 cabinet that I could buy for my 10g. Has one door and its only 60 bucks. I figure if I put a top on it I would be good to go. Ideas????

maybe, check the weight max that it could hold. A 10g tank will prob be around 80lbs with water, rock, etc. Just make sure it can hold the weight I guess. I've always went with things built specifically for tanks or custom built as better to be safe than sorry even if you're saving a few bucks yknow.

Ya I was thinking about a diy stand but my woodworking skills are not really anything to be showing off.
I guess I could always brace inside of the cabinet with some 2x4s. That I can do,it doesn't need to be pretty lol
Maybe someone here has used one and has some pics.

If you can get the cabinet stand for a good price - totally just brace with 2X4's!!! Figure you only have to support 100lbs.

When you have the stand you want - just jump on that bad boy and wiggle a little.

Not very scientific - I know - but if that cabinet still feels good with you on it wiggling - I am willing to be that it will be more than capable of supporting the 10G tank weight.

Supplementing the stand with 2X4s is the way to go tho - that will give good piece of mind!

    Good luck!!!

i have a stand made from a kitchen cabinet for a 30 gallon and it's braced with some 1x4s. haven't had any doubts about it's strength.

This is my 29 i sold a little over a month ago,but the stand for it was a kitchen cupboard/microwave stand, the tank fit great and i had no doubts about it supporting the tank(the stand did have casters that i removed).

Thanks for the pic. The cabinet I could get looks similar to that only I think I have to put a top on it. I jave to go look at it still. I'm pretty sure it will be able to hold a 10g.

Ah,that one had a top that overlapped all the walls(which i'm sure added to it's strength)plus the tank set directly ontop of all 4 walls as well.So it was allready built much like a tank stand you'd buy in a store.
