Tank almost done. I guess you could say its done. during the night the anemone im guessing got stuck up the power head and now every single thing i can see is dead.......... The clown, damsel, starfish, turbo, shrimp, and possibly the hermits too. Very sad and discouraged but we will press on.

Anemone's are very dangerous. They die, its pure toxins in your tank.
I would be afraid of an anemone in a tank that small for sure. I am afraid for the sebae I have in my 37 gallon. I got rid of two long tentacles for that very reason, but couldnt stay away from the nems. My kid loves them. I see in previous posts they said it would happen. That sucks you lost everything. Once you restock I would stay away from the nems unless you have a test kit and are meticulous about it. Even still, i would probably stay away from the nems til you get a bigger tank. Sad news. Hope you stay with the hobby. You had a really nice looking setup.

If the nem died in it... and its still the same water.. I would probably do a full change.
I will let some of the more experienced people answer this one though.
You really need a test kit. My LFS had a decent test kit for $29... tested everything.. PH, nitrates, nitrites, ammonia.. etc.. i would run the test on it now.. i bet your nitrates are through the roof.

I so sorry that this had to happen but nems certainly aren't things you want to experiment with. I agree. You should do a complete water change and a re-cycle your tank. Your test kits are important and IMO in a small tank, you should make sure that everything is stable before adding anything. As for the nems, stay away from them for a while. cuttingrass is right. You need very powerful lighting and a mature tank to keep em alive. Good luck next time around and keep your head held high;)

I have the lighting part down and im pretty sure i HAD a stable tank. but who knows. I was scared that the lights were to powerful for the tank. lol... I know that they wasnt but anyway. Going to lfs later on today and gettin water mixture and doing a full water change. The 4 red legged hermits are okay and i hope i can keep them livng

btw, WATER does NOT cycle, TANKS cycle. you can have all the bacteria in the world in your water, but until it gets established in your LR and sand, it means nothing. mix your own salt water, you are wasting money by buying theirs, and you dont know theirs may be polluted. you rushed things last time. i know you dont think you did, but you did. this time, take things SLOW!! slow does not mean 1-2 weeks, it means 4-6 weeks. you need to wait to add your CUC until after most of the cycle is done. you need to wait 2 weeks before each addition. so, add CUC after 2 weeks, then 2 weeks later add ONE fish, then 2 weeks later maybe an invert, and so on. No ANEMONE until AT LEAST 6 months, if ever.
I'm not trying to be harsh, but this will happen again if you take the same course. good luck.

Well, lol... wait no lol....... the tank is down. everything died. cleaned everything and placed in box. there is no reason for me to try and start a cycle now when i have to move in two weeks and hour way. bad news is, i was dumping the water and sand out side and the tank fell out of my hands or aka i dropped it. Broke, and is no longer able to use. JUST MY DAY. So in anger i thru it in the pond outsie of my dorm. My anger controls me sometimes. but any way. No need to start another5.5 i am going to start up a 20 long in about a month so anyways. Thats all for this thread. Very disappointed. But hey, I thank God i woke up this morning;)

sorry to hear about the broken tank. use the time you have to research about what you want in your next tank.
