That light looks awesome. I wonder how many I would need for a 75?

For my standard 75g I was going to get the Wide-D....48 is the longest. It is 32" in length. The next size down is 24" and you could maybe go with 2 of those. But there would be a bit of overhang.

I am currently trying to find a spectrograph of the blue and white CREE LEDs used in this fixture.

The light does not have optic lenses installed. But could one install 60* optics on the fixture to better focus the light, thus raising par values in the aquarium?

I was just thinking of using this.

    60 Degree CREE XR-E Lens/Optics (white)

This is the CREE chip available in the K3 fixture. The other option is a Bridgelux LED chip instead of the CREE.

I don't know much about the Bridgelux company. - Turns out they don't seem to offer the right color temperature in any of their LED chips. But they aren't an aquarium lighting company either -- they just make a chip.

i have a 1st generation key led with upgrade to cree chips for about a year, here's my impressions:
    1. unit needs to hung over the aquarium, don't use the sliders they give you, they are cumbersome to use
    2. not powerful enought for corals. i have a 22 inch unit and it has 18 leds total @ 1 watt a piece. i have it over a seahorse tank.
    3. the screws they give rust like mad
4.this unit has a plastic shield over the leds which you cannot take out and clean without dismantling the unit.
    5. fans are weak.

there are some better units out there. recently i bought an evolution led unit for less i have over a 70 gallon reef . a very good light and person to deal with (here in the usa)

Don't you think they might have improved things since then? The one I was looking at is 165w and 34 daylight leds.

Are the evolution units dimmable? Do they require a separate controller?
