I see my P.H move from 7.7 to 8.2 all depending on time of day length of Photoperiod and water tempature.. Does not anyone elses ? or does everyone's P.H but mine stay rock solid at 8.4 all the time ?

CaOH2 is kalwasser, health wise theres not much difference between 8.0 and 8.1 but the corals transfer Ca and dKH better at a pH of 8.2-8.4

of course it fluctuates, its the range of fluctuation that matters, 7.7 is way to low since 7 is nutrual. if the pH range is 7.7-8.2 your system is to acidic and doesnt have enough gas exchange when the lights are off

I started dosing kalk about 3 weeks ago. I dose it only after the lights turn off to "try" to maint. the ph at its highest during the night. The best that I've been able to achieve is 7.9, during the night. I've thought about implementing a refug. but have been told that it only maints the ph and not rise it. What do you think?

I calibrated it about 1 month ago and I clean the tip every 1-2 days. I dont have an aatoc but I do have a Kent Marine auto drip doser(1400ml). I've tried just about everything that has been suggested to no avail. The only thing that has help a little is the Kalk dosing, but it doesnt rise my ph to 8.3-8.4 like other ppl. I'm still wondering how some ppl can have their ph that high.:-/

But look what it says; " should be used to raise alkalinity when pH is not a problem." I used to use Seachem's ph buffer thats raises ph to 8.3 but man did it also raise my alk real high. You know what, Im not going to sweat it, like they say, "if it aint broke, dont fix it". All of my creatures are doing fine, so Im not going to try and mess that up. I greatly appreciate your help and time RG and Tangster. Karma for the both of you. Luna
