    ok i have my sump design withj a skimmer section and a fug now my question do you really need a ATF if you run a skimmer and have a fug.

    i really dont wana embark on another building project while doing this reef tank.

    You don't NEED to run anything. What you run is your choice. All you need to do is google ATS and read any one of a thousand articles and you will be able to make your own decision on what is best for you and your tank. All we can do is guess.
