Kalkwasser Dosing

    What do people here dose their tanks with? I use 1/2 teasppon kalk to my 1/3 gallon of top off water in the morning and at night. Then every other day at night add some Reef Builder to keep the alk up.

    Be careful with dosing alk, unless you have your system on a pH monitor/controller. I dosed kalk blindly in my 150G and my pH is now at 8.8. I don't have any livestock in the tank other than 9 snails to clean up some gunk on the rocks, so I'm not risking any fish. But I have my work cut out to lower the pH back to normal. Now I need to break out about 6 bottles of seltzer water and dose that over the next week. I use "Purple Tech" to dose my Ca, Mg and alk levels now.

    I run Kalk 24/7 for all my top off water and I stop the system twice a day for 2.5 hrs to mix and let it settle. I also run a controller that will shut the system down if the pH gets too high but that will never happen with the Ca reactor I have running also.
