So, I'm looking at starting a small salt water tank. I'm talking like a 20 or a 50... nothing bigger. Anyone wanna help with suggestions on a couple of fish that I should start with? Maybe some coral as well.... I don't know. Seems addicting... help?!?

Your fish selections vary greatly between a 20 and a 50.

How much are you willing to invest?
Do you have any equipment yet?

    Did I mention, very addicting.

    Welcome 2 3reef!
You have made it to the right place!:)

Do you already have a setup in mind.
There is quite a bit difference between a 20 and a 55 for stocking it.
Have you looked into lighting and filtration?

Maybe we should start buy finding out what you like as far as fish/corals

There is a big difference between a reef tank with corals and ones with fish only as far as the setups, cost and what type fish can go in it.

Well, I for sure want a yellow tang and probably 2 clown fish. At this point I am looking at the 55 gallon tank. Not sure if I want to do coral. They need a lot different light... so I think fish and rocks are my safer bet.

im not a big fan of a yellow tang or most tangs in a 50. 90 minimum for them. they grow and love havin the swimming space. be to cramped IMO. the clowns youre perfectly fine with. lots of other cool and colorful fish you can have. from dwarf angels , to different type wrasses. pseudochromises etc. all very colorful and for the most part very active swimmers.
