just buildt my sump/ref have questions.

    i have my ref on one side of my sump which is doing good. the filter side i have my skimmer and cannister hooked up to it. i have a bubble trap for the micro bubbles but it doesnt seem to be working. any ideas? i dont have a filter sock for the outlet so its just flowing wate in the filter part. this will be a funny question but could i use womens stockings?

    You can use the white bleached women's stockings with no ill effects. Probably the tan also, but I don't like running the risk of dyes running or something to that effect.

    How is your bubble trap set up? Also what is the relation to the other chambers in your sump? Pics would be helpful here to see exactly what you are describing.

    Congrats on the new build. Sorry it's not all you expected. You say "just Built"....How long has it been up and running? If it's only been a few days, I say wait a few weeks and let it work in, With everything being brand new, you need to let a good slime coat develop on all the surfaces.

    As for the bubbles, where are they coming from? The down pipe, or Skimmer.....if from the skimmer, I suggest dialing in the valve, and keeping the collection trap clean every day.....And if from the Down Pipe, I found that drilling three holes starting at the sump water level, and one half inch above each other will let 90% of the air out before it gets into the water. Hope this helps.
