I purchased a marine land clear glass or acrylic (not sure) lid for the top of my 55 gallon tank. I've got some t5 lighting hanging above the lid but I was wondering if it dulls the lighting at all? Will my fish and coral be affected by the lid? I know that it has helped my water not evaporate as fast... I'm just wondering if my lighting is all getting through as strong as it can. Will post pictures if necessary.

THANK YOU ALL FOR TAKING THE TIME TO HELP!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
As long as condensation is not allowed to collect on it you should be fine. It's a marine land product intended for use of aquariums, so it should be good.

    Welcome to 3reef.

I would watch your ph after you put lid on. make sure you still have good gas exchange. if your ph seems to fall take the glass lid off and make a screen top. i had very low ph with a glass lid on my 39g.

Yes the lid will affect the amount of light going into the tank. You will lose up to 20% of the effectiveness of the light depending on the thickness and color of the glass.

You might want to consider building screen tops for your tank made out of 1/4" clear mesh netting. Keeps fish in, lets light in and lets gas out. They're really easy to make, you just use regular screen frames and spline from home depot and make screens like you would for your window.
