The tank is looking awesome! I hope one day I can manage to get a planted tank to look that good. What are you using for lighting?

I am using 2x54w T5HO. They are GE 6500K bulbs.

How do you combat algae? Sorry for all the questions.

Well balance fertilization routine and the use of CO2. You will need to dose a lot more N and P to keep algae from growing. You will want a ratio of about 10:1 N to P. Check out EI dosing or PPS-Pro dosing.

dude your tank is looking fabulous. Much better then it did several months ago (even though I still thought it looked good then). Pics are great too. Love the lighting. Your tank has inspired me to play around with my plant selection. I went from a simplistic Japanese theme originally inspired by Takashi Amano to a more natural "raw" theme. I'm loving the changes so far. Keep it up and keep us updated.

also is that a flying fox algae eater I see in the pics? what species is that? Does yours eat algae and is it peaceful to your other inhabitants? (I know a few species are sold under the same name but some can be more aggressive than others i.e flying fox and Chinese algae eaters). I have been searching for a good peaceful algae eater but the ones I have tried only pick at the algae. lol

Thanks, I like the Dutch style over the Amano style just because it looks more natural. Amano tanks are awesome looking landscapes. I will keep the updates coming. I am waiting to see what happens with the spike the Apon in the front right is putting out.

Yeah Amano tanks are truly stunning but IME are too much hassle to keep the plants trimmed and looking "manicured" and perfect all the time. Switching to dutch has def. made my life easier and I love having a variety of plants.

Also you have some red cherries right? Let me know if yours start breeding and you want to trade a few. I have about 100 in my tank and would like to introduce some from a different line to keep from interbreeding.
