Thanks on both. It took a lot of practice and learning to get the shots to come out as well as they do.

LOL, most of the first pics I took were shaky and out of focus and the color was way off. But after reading the manual several times, learning how to use the camera properly and taking advantage of the tips from the real photographers on the site, I could get the camera take pics the way it was designed to.

The operator was the problem the whole time. Camera does fantastic with someone who knows how to use it. Now if they only made ones that take perfect pics totally on their own....

    FTS under different light conditions

I swapped canopies yesterday between my reef and planted tanks. The canopy from the planted tank is 4" taller than the one from the reef.

I had two ballasts on the planted tank and two on the reef. The ballasts from the planted tank handles two bulbs each. One ballast from the reef handles two bulbs and the other 4. I move all of the two bulbs ballasts to the reef tank and the four bulb ballast to the planted tank. I have set the light periods to actinics 10AM to Noon and 6PM to 8PM, blues 11AM to 7PM and daylights Noon to 6PM.

So here are FTS shots under the various lighting conditions.

    looks good John

was it heat issues with the ballasts over the reef than caused the desire to swap out?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
The daylight and blue gives it the best coloration, IMO brings out the pinks and greens, at least in the images.

Looks fantastic, as always. The Ricordia garden must be getting bigger, because it's showing up more/larger in the images.

    Thanks Steve.

No heat issues, just like the idea of have the 3 light periods with the different bulb colors.
