I wish I had done that with my first tank.

I read an article from CaribSea stating that x lbs of sand will fill y cubic inches of space. Wrong!!!!! There is about an inch in there right now and if I get a wrasse I will place it in the center area so it will have a dive zone.

I cleaned up the 26, drilled it for a bulkhead, installed the bulkhead and made a short stand for the tank from the old stand and leftover wood from my canopy and stand builds. I am going to paint the tank since it is going to be in the open and it will be a fuge on a reverse lighting schedule.

    Extending lighting time

I am extending the lighting time starting tomorrow by 1 hour per day. The corals got no light Saturday and about 4 hours per day Sunday through today. I did not run the lights longer at first because I had some problems with dinos in the 26. They seem to have been residing in the sand which I did not use.

This may seem like a stupid question to you guys :-/ but what does keeping the rock off the sand do, or at least what purpose does it serve.
