    hi fellow reefers.

i have a spot of bother concerning my blue legged hermy, hes dissapeared!!!, litterally shell and all.
i have pulled the lot out including all my liverock and still no sign of him or his shell. i only have a small river reef 48 so there isnt a lot of places to look really is there any chance it could have found its way over the top an into the back filtration system?

    thanks again.

If there is enough room for it to get into something then it is definitely possible.

there is a chance Rosewell, they do clamber over rocks at low tide, they carry water in the shell and as long as they dont dry out they can survive short periods in air

but they are also prone to getting into the smallest crevices at the back of the reef, so it could just be very well hidden in your DT still

To some it may be silly but to some its a life whether it be big or small.

indeed it is. hes been gone for more than a week now. he does sometime dissapear when he sheds his skin but then pops back up again. but not this time he hasnt. funny thing that makes me this hes still wandering somewhere in the tank is that the shell he lives in is not about either.

i do have one big lump of lr in the tank with plenty of crevices so maybe hes decided to upgrade his home to this full time!

and theres nothing in the tank to eat him either

if he isn't in your filter it is probably upside down under a rock, or crammed into a nook...they do that. be careful moving your rocks, you are probably more likely to hurt than help if he gets wedged. He will make it out, they know what they are doing when they cram themselves into the nooks, perfectly natural.
