Well, it's been a slowwww weekend. Lots of housework to get done before I assemble all the tank goodies. Today I washed out the tank with hot water, no chemicals, and set up the tank stand. Once I get my new camera (cybershot screen broke) I'll be able to post a photo diary of my VERY slow progress :D

Your guess would be right! The things not to skimp on would be first the water quality.. Ro/di most importantly unless of course you like algae. Second I think is a toss up between the lights and the skimmer. Depending on the tank weather its a fish only or reef tank would make the lr of improtance. Last if you dont know the quality with a good up to date test kit then you should take out the wallet and throw money in the trash can. I know this is what I did in the beginning and it cost me a ton to fix it. I am not saying this harshly just hate to see another fellow reefer have headaches down the road.

Thank you for the reply!! I appreciate it! I told him not to even bother, LOL.
As far as my tank goes, SW is mixed, LR (fiji) is on the way along with the skimmer. I do need more lights. The light I have right now came with the set up and is slightly pink which i understand can cause a lot of algae? I really can't splurge on MH or VHO yet so it will be slow going....

I have mine in the mudroom in the basement but I have it set up so you can remove it and place it under the sink(wife doesent want to see any of that"fish stuff") I believe bulkreefsupply setups are inexpensive and come with all the stuff needed to do just that also.
