Wow, thank you for that!! Now one question about RO/DI systems. How exactly do you set them up? I mean I know there are instructions with them but is it seperate from, say, your kitchen faucet? I've just never set one up before....

It comes with a full set of instructions. You basically have to tap it into your waterline underneath your sink. I ran mine with T fitting and a shut off that I plug into when I need water.

Also, I bought a 32 gallon garbage pail and a roller for it that I fill and use for water changes and filling with 300gph cheap pump. Instead of running back and forth with the water, you could fill up the can, and roll it over to the tank.

    Here it is:

and here is the RO/DI unit before I installed it.

IMHO I'd recommend the system from Bulk Reef Supply that you can also find on eBay. They're based in the USA in MN and support the various Reef forums, mention that you're a member of whichever ones you are. I got my system from them, it's solid, basic, inexpensive. Plus it comes with faucet fittings so you don't have to pierce your water pipe like with some other systems. .02$

You don't have to do the piercing the pipe thing. If you put this value in at the cold water valve under the sink. I got it at Home Depot for about 10 bucks. It even has its own shut off value at the T.

Just tryin to help as I to live in an apartment.

definitely don't use them...the tests kits rather.

i wouldn't risk using them and relying on such old reagents. why did your friend buy expired test kits?

He didn't know they were expired. He got the box and BAM, expired...
One good thing is that on all the packaging Kordon states that there is no charge from the company to replace expired reagents.
