Feather dusters can not consume phyto. They can take some of the ingredients in rods food or rotifers.

How long have you've been using Phosguard? Although it doesn't happen often Aluminum Oxide is known to give coral negative reactions. This is one of the main reasons people prefer Ferric Oxide as a phosphate reducer. Also like people have stated, get your salinity tested with a refractometer. I've found that my corals close up on anything lower than 1.023.

Those euphylias don't like a lot of flow. I would move it to an area with minimal flow and let it chill. I also think your lighting is sufficient for what you have in there. I wouldn't worry about upgrading it anytime soon. Light is not your issue.

Hydrometers can be very off. Especially if your tank temp changes regularly or if your measuring the salinity in colder water vs warmer water. Refractometers can be shipped to your house for $30 from ebay. There seems to be a consensus saying that they are decent. I picked one up recently and it works great. RHS-10 ATC is the model number.

I've been using the phosguard since I got a diatom bloom about 4 months ago, and I haven't had any problems, but I forgot to add that to the list of the things I did in the last week and a half. I took it out just in case it was causing problems.

I got to use my eBay refractometer for the first time today. It was very satisfying althought my first batch of water was only 1.020. I'll have to up things a bit for my next couple of batches (no coral or fish in there yet so I still have time).

update: well still waiting for the refractometer to get here but i possibly found a problem (i'm an idiot) I was cleaning out the sponge in my chamber and I was thinking maybe there is some debris under it that needs cleaning. So i reach down there and what do I find another sponge and that thing was in horrible condition since its been down there for about 6 months and I had no clue. Hopefully that fixes things.
