I did just that after 6 months of a hydrometer and believe it or not they read the exact same!! ALthough I did clean with vinegar once a week or so.

I have had my hydrometer for 3 years, havent cleaned it :p but the good news is that I can get teh fluid off BRS for about 10 bucks shipped and the refractometer off E-bay so that save me 6 buck plus shipping if I went through BRS.

and I will definatly post to see the diffrence between the two.

aqlright so I went with BRS deal made more sense at the time, SO let this be a lesson my swing arm read 1.024 a bit low but about right.

the new mwter after being calibrated and tested three times read 1.028 a bit high.

then I got to thinking about when I first got the tank up and running and the cal. mag read high at 1.026 salinity by the swing arm. LOL will spend 100+ on water test kits but 10 bucks to measure the salinity :p
