Is the tissue receding? From what I can see in the photo the "dead" area looks like it's been that way for awhile. Recent death would leave a bone white skeleton...that appears to have coralline on it. Generally "brown jelly" (which is actually a bacterial infection I believe) would be "eating" the tissue back and leaving new/white skeleton exposed. The tissue around the "dead" area appears healthy from what I can see.

Brown jelly would take over that coral In about 3 weeks if not treated.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
When they named the affliction brown jelly, they did so because it aptly describes it's appearance. Every time I have experienced "brown jelly" it appears as a jelly like mass brown in appearance, no mistaking it. It quickly over comes healthy tissue with necrosis happening in hours.

A coral infected is so severely damaged that corals death happens quickly, as within 24 to 48 hours.

As stated prior what you have appears as tissue regression which is preventable and reversible.

Brown jelly would look like a brown slime on the coral. How long has it been like that? Because brown jelly would be 36 to 48 hrs and most of the coral would be dead. Got it on a kenya tree once and with 10 to 12 hours it was mush. If you feel it is brown jelly turn off all pumps, remove it slowly as to not spread it to other corals. Cut it back 3/4 to an 1" from the infected area. And on the safe side place it in another tank if possible.

I assume this is the area we are talking about. From what I can see there is no new tissue regression. This appears to be an old "wound" that has healed. The exposed skeleton is not bright white like it would be if the tissue was regressing and it appears to have coralline algae growing on it which would indicate the tissue has been gone from this area for several weeks/months. The tissue surrounding the dead area also looks good and healthy. Maybe I'm not seeing something in the image, but I don't see anything there that looks bad.

^ Fully agree; I don't see anything wrong here.
